For many of us, the coming of Christmas gives us back our childhood memories. Family gatherings, candlelight, songs and gifts. And for those living in the Northern Hemisphere, the opportunity of playing in the snow!
The end of the year is also time for reflection, pondering about what has been accomplished, and what remains to be done. Indeed, at the Council of Business & Society we can be happy of many achievements, among them the CoBS student CSR competition and the increasing number of people reached via the different CoBS digital platforms. In 2019, the Council has published 6 issues of Global Voice magazine, including three special issues on Asia-Pacific, Europe and Responsible Leadership, packed with cutting-edge research and insight made practical for those who read us. Our December issue – Knowledge for a new world – is now available for download.
We are now witnessing the surge of a vibrant community, as evidenced by the comments from readers and their participation in the CoBS blog. On this subject, the CoBS has opened up its Community blog to its readers’ – every first Wednesday of the month – to contribute their voice on such issues as CSR, diversity and inclusion, education, sustainability and ethical leadership. Last but not least, we are particularly happy that Trinity Business School, Trinity College Dublin, became a member of the Council on Business & Society in June of this year. A warm welcome to them!
Happy as we are with these achievements, we want to focus on the next steps for the CoBS, our hopes and projects for 2020. We would like to strengthen and continue our common projects with students and faculty of the six member schools, as well as fostering greater links with partners and our readers, thus pursuing the global mission of the CoBS.
May each one of you, our readers, have a restful and peaceful Christmas. I invite you to download our last issue of the year for your reading, food for thought, and enjoyment!
About Global Voice #12
Issue #12 of the Council on Business & Society Global Voice magazine – a fitting number to coincide with the 12th month of the year!
This issue features two sections – Business & Society and Management & Leadership, as well as a novelty – a full-spread cartoon – a little nod and wink at how Global Voice and the knowledge it offers can hopefully help Mother Earth become a happier, more radiant living thing for us all.
Included in this issue are topics for the self-employed entrepreneur including research into the shift from the ‘gig economy’ to the ‘project economy’ and its importance for innovation; key management research into how abusive supervision impacts employees; a research highlight into the critical role corporate boards play in reducing corporate social irresponsibility; a focus on leadership attributes and ethical leadership; the importance of recognising emotions in client relations; and the role of corporate entrepreneurship in sustaining companies’ foreign subsidiaries.
Enjoy your reading and wishing all of you a very happy and peaceful end to the year.
